To be surrounded by art on a daily basis brings more fulfilment and significance than many things we tend to surround ourselves with. This is what I hope to instil in my clients.

Annemarie brings traditional expertise together with a fresh, modern view of the art market. The art world is ever-changing in the face of global development. Annemarie helps you to manage your collection, considering all that could be at stake. Annemarie van der Hoeven (1975) completed her Master’s degree History of Art at the Rijks Universiteit in Groningen in 2002- with an emphasis on Dutch 17th century painting.

While at university, Annemarie joined the team of Koetser Gallery at TEFAF Maastricht in 2000. Guided by David Koetser, she gained expertise sourcing Dutch and Flemish golden age paintings, organising art fairs and building relationships with gallery clients and collectors. She is still part of the permanent team.

In 2010 Annemarie became a Certified Valuer of Old Master Paintings – enabling her to do official valuations.

Old Masters were once contemporary artists too, their paintings an essential reflection of the times they lived in. Annemarie feels it is her privilege to guide young collectors to find their way in the art world, as well as guiding upcoming artists to find their work into established collections. With this in mind, she is amongst other things involved as a jury member in the awarding of the Lakeside Collection Award.

Every addition will have it’s own moment, every object will be a souvenir of your fascinating journey through the world of art.

Art market news may put you off - for one artist, sales go through the roof, while for the other the market comes to a stand-still. Over the years, Annemarie has gained a broad comprehension of the rules and nuances of the art market and is determined that transparency and integrity are most significant for an art advisor.

01 Acquiring art

To buy or not to buy... that is the question. But first – how do you start? Annemarie helps you identify what kind of collector you are – building a private collection that resonates personally, or assembling works on a corporate or investment level that reflect a company's vision and ideals.

She oversees all elements needed for a justified acquisition: from assessing the price–quality ratio to positioning a work within an artist's oeuvre, and using her global network to source and negotiate specific works to integrate into your collection.

02 Selling art

When you are thinking of selling one or more paintings, different aspects come into play: what is a realistic market value? How has the market evolved in recent years? And which strategy will help you achieve the best possible result?

Annemarie advises on the most sensible course of action – from presenting a work directly to an institution or private collector, to consigning it with an art dealer, or offering it at a local or global auction house.

03 Valuation

As a Certified Valuer of Old Master Paintings, registered with the Federation TMV, Annemarie upholds a high level of professional competence in every valuation she provides.

Whether you need an insurance valuation or an up-to-date art market valuation, she offers clear, well-founded assessments to support the long-term care and management of your collection.
